WHAT YOU ACTUALLY NEED IN YOUR MOM POSTPARTUM RECOVERY ESSENTIAL KIT

As a first-time mom, I had no idea what was supposed to be in my postpartum recovery essentials kit. But I did find some great lists online and I did create my personal Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit. Yes, I agree creating a thoughtful postpartum mom bathroom kit can be a great idea to help you during the recovery period after giving birth. So here are some essential items you can include in your Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit. Now that I have given birth I did add notes for the things I actually used and needed from Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit.

  1. Perineal Care Product Kit: FOR VAGINAL BIRTH. I had a C-Section, so I did not need most of the things in this Frida Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit but I did get it as a gift from a friend and funny I will be donating all the things I did not use to the same friend because she’s currently pregnant, lol.
    • Perineal spray or cooling mist: Provides relief and soothes the sensitive area.
    • Witch hazel pads: Helps reduce swelling and provides comfort.
    • Dermoplast spray: A numbing spray to alleviate pain and discomfort.
    • And more
  2. Sitz Bath Soak: VAGINAL BIRTH. I had a C-section and no bath for me for a while.
    • Sitz bath herbs or Epsom salts: Promotes healing and relaxation.
  3. Disposable Underwear or Large Cotton Panties: YES, needed for BOTH Vaginal or C-section Births. There’s still a lot of bleeding and they help without not having to do too much laundry.
    • Provides comfort and reduces the risk of staining regular underwear.
  4. Absorbent Pads:
  5. Flushable Wipes or Water Cleansing Bottle:
    • It provides a gentle way to clean after using the bathroom. This was on the list I found but honestly, maybe vaginal birth mamas need it but I haven’t used it once.
  6. Nursing Pads:
    • Mom if you are breastfeeding, nursing pads WILL help with leaks. YESSSSS, if you planning on breastfeeding you WILL need Nursing pads. I prefer the disposable ones from Lansinoh.
  7. Nipple cream. Again if breastfeeding you WILL need Nipple Cream. I’m only 2 weeks into breastfeeding and my breasts are SORE AND DRY. No bleeding but they are peeling. And the Organic Nipple Butter Breastfeeding Cream by Earth Mama has been my saving grace.
  8. Hand Sanitizer: Invest in a lot of hand sanitizer for you and your baby. Don’t let anyone hold your baby without washing or sanitizing their hands. I use it before and after changing my baby’s diaper.
    • Ensures good hygiene, especially important after using the bathroom.
    • Easy-to-wear clothing for added comfort.
  9. Stool Softeners:
    • To ease bowel movements, especially if you had a cesarean section. Omg, yes, using the toilet is HARD after a C-section. The doctor will prescribe Stool Softerners, but since I’ve been home, I’ve been getting back to my fresh juices, which help soften my stool. Check out my favorite recipes, HERE.

Remember, every mom’s preferences and needs may vary, so consider personalizing the kit based on your specific needs and any recommendations from your healthcare provider. And please remember motherhood is not easy, give yourself grace.
