By the end of my day, I’m rarely in the mood to do a full cleansing routine on my face. So I found a routine that gets the job done and soothes my conscious. And this routine is only five minute. Like always I am sharing my beauty secrets and sharing with you my 5 minute night-time cleansing routine.

Typically, on any skin type, cleansing your face daily requires using the following order of application: cleanser, toner, serum, spot corrector, eye cream and moisturizer. But who has time to do all of that twice a day?  I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t have that kind of time at night.

Being a full-time entrepreneur, whose office is located in the luxurious comforts of my bedroom, I don’t wear makeup often.  But if you wear makeup daily or several times a week, add a minute or two, to this night-time cleansing routine below.

CLEANSE YOUR FACE & NECK

This first step is essential to the entire process because you need to remove all products, oil, and dirt that you obtained throughout your day.  Your skin will be prone to acne if you do not cleanse your face consistently because of bacteria. I take about three minutes to cleanse my face at least two times.

Use warm water in this step to help open your pores open and removes dead skin. Make sure to use the circular motion with your hands, cleansing brush or towel to clean your face.  Also, be aware that water and products may run down your neck so make sure you clean your neck as well.

EYE CREAM OR A FACE SERUM?

If you have dark circles or puffiness underneath your eyes, I highly suggest that you continue to use an eye cream or eye serum for your night-time cleansing routine.  If you do not have those skin issues, then use a face serum as your next step. Apply the eye cream or face serum to the appropriate areas and let it sit for about 30 seconds.

Sometimes, I don’t apply my eye cream because I use an eye cooling mask that I can actually sleep in overnight. Remember, the goal here is to properly cleanse your face and neck in under five minutes.  That’s why it’s a 5 minute night-time cleansing routine.

MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE !!!

Lastly, in one minute, apply your moisturizer.  I use a thick moisturizer at night because I’m not actively moving around which causes sweat to build up on my skin.  You can use whatever moisturizer you have available that works well for your skin type. Moisturizing your skin helps boost hydration, prevents dryness or dullness, seals and protects the skin.  Some facial moisturizers have anti-aging ingredients in them as well.

Any night-time cleansing routine you do, involves you applying the products correctly and knowing the products that work for your skin type.  The weather is changing but that doesn’t mean you have to change your skincare products. As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t try and fix it.”  This is the basic night-time cleansing routine that I use on those nights where I’m tired but still push through. My 5-minute night-time cleansing routine will help you like it helps me.
