Hey, Ladies, we are back at it again, its Saturday and guess what? I have some awesome lippie brands for us by us! Are you ready? Let dive right into the 5 Lipstick Brands for Black Women.

The Lip Bar

5 Lipstick Brands for Black Women

The first company that I am sharing with you that is part of the 5 Lipstick Brands for Black Women is the Lip Bar. Lip Bar is the baby of founder Melissa Butler. The Lip Bar is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand. Their motto is to help change the way you think about beauty. In 2012 Melissa Butler launched The Lip Bar because she was unhappy with the media’s idea of beauty. Everywhere she looked, the media was telling women that beauty looked a certain way. She hated it! She started making a lipstick in her kitchen determined to change how people viewed what the beauty standard was.

In 2015 Melissa made her appearance on the ABC television show “Shark Tank” where all the shark rejected and laughed at her business concept. Yet this didn’t deter her instead it gave her the motivation to keep fighting. That following year her company launched on Target’s website and in stores on February 2018. This year they opened their Flagship location in Detroit, Michigan. Their brand is expanding and we are enjoying watching her grow.

Mented Cosmetics

Mented Cosmetics was founded by two black women over a bottle of wine. KJ Miller and Amanda Johnson discussed why it was so hard to find the perfect nude lipstick for women of color. That conversation sparked an idea, and that idea became the brand we see today.  Mented Cosmetics grew because these two women truly believe, that every woman should be able to find herself in the world of beauty, no matter her skin tone. All lipsticks are vegan, paraben-free, non-toxic and cruelty-free.
