It’s getting colder and colder outside ladies and our skin needs some extra T.L.C.  I have combination skin (oily and dry) but I know tons of women who have dry and flaky skin, especially in the colder months.  Having dry skin simply means that your skin looks dull, prone to acne and is very sensitive no matter what season we’re in.  I have discovered 3 ways to relieve dry & flaky skin this fall season.

Moisturize Your Skin Daily

There’s no way of getting around the simple fact that moisturizing your skin daily, is key to having healthy skin.  Because you have dry or flaky skin you may need to look into purchasing products without scents or ones made specifically for your skin type.  People who have eczema, use products such as Aveeno, Cetaphil, and Eucerin just to name a few and the best thing is, all of these products are recommended by a dermatologist.  Always read the labels when you are purchasing any new products before using them.

Dry Off Your Skin Gently

So here’s where you will literally apply some T.L.C. to your skin.  When you finished cleaning your body, don’t be so harsh and ruff, while drying yourself off.  I know it’s a habit that we all do, but practice being more gentile and pat dry your skin instead.  This technique is similar to what we do when we use body scrubs on our skin.  If your skin is already dry and flaky and you are being too harsh on the skin, you can cause inflammation and/or sores, which can be painful.  Take your time during this step and maybe invest in towels that specialize in exfoliating your skin or are specific to your skin type.

Use Milk Powder for Dry Skin

I’m not a fan of drinking milk and rarely use it with my skincare products but to my understanding, there’s moisture within the lactic acid that helps exfoliates your skin.

Caring for your dry or flaky skin can be beneficial, something you learn to love about yourself and become easier as you apply these tips daily.  These tips will definitely help you stop having those embarrassing moments out in public or those painful moments after you cleanse your skin.  Your skin, no matter what skin type you have, is important to your health so please take better care of it this fall.
