EXFOLIATE

According to an article I read in Town and Country Magazine, “Dullness is often caused by dead skin cell buildup, so exfoliating can help brighten the skin by sloughing these dead cells away.” Maybe you’re on a budget or your busy schedule won’t allow you to visit your favorite esthetician this week to get a facial. There are tons of products that will help you exfoliate your skin.

One of my favorite exfoliating product is the pink grapefruit foaming scrub by Neutrogena. Not only does this product exfoliates my skin, but it also clears breakouts during that time of the month for me. And the grapefruit ingredients gives my skin that burst of vitamin C that I need in the mornings.

VITAMIN C

Speaking of vitamin C, just eating certain superfoods with vitamin C will have your skin glowing in no time. If you have been reading my beauty and skincare posts, then you know that I always advise you to take care of your overall health. And one benefit of taking care of your overall health is that you get to achieve great skin.

Some of the foods we eat and beverages we drink take a toll on our skin. You can apply skincare products with vitamin C in the morning and possibly replace that morning cup of coffee. Vitamin C awakens the skin and brightens those dark spots or circles underneath the eyes. Those dark circles and spots are usually the culprits to not having glowing skin.

MOISTURIZE

Obviously, you need to moisturize your skin to prevent dullness. But you will be surprised at how many women, skip this step in their skincare routine. Knowing your skin type (oily, dry or combination) is essential to finding the right moisturizer to fit your skin needs.

I have combination skin type, so I moisturize the lower chin area, multiple times a day because it can get pretty dry. Moisturizers are the base and barrier when applying your makeup. You should never apply makeup products to raw or unclean skin. Again, doing your research on moisturizers for your skin type will help keep your skin glowing year-round.

Beauty flows from the inside, then outward. How you feel about yourself on the inside will have your skin glowing from the outside. To maintain glowing skin, you don’t need tons of products or expensive spa treatments. Sometimes, it only requires you to eat superfoods that promote glowing skin (ex., avocados, salmon, red or yellow bell peppers).

At other times, it may involve you making sure that you exfoliate more often than you do and not rushing through your skincare routine. Also, don’t forget to apply moisturizer.
