Summer is officially here; which means multiple invitations to all the summer barbecues! I know I’m trying to hit up as many cookouts as possible. Now, with all of these invitations, the question is: what the heck am I going to wear? The easy answer would be to just throw on a pair of denim shorts and a t-shirt. But, this is the summer that we are going to switch things up! Therefore, we’re stepping outside of our comfort zones and coming to the cookout ready to SLAY!!! So, I decided to give you some ideas with a lot of bold colors and prints. Check out some of my fun outfit ideas for Summer cookouts below!

Look 1: Add a Kimono/Duster

A kimono/duster is the perfect piece to finish off any outfit. Even if you still wanted to wear those denim shorts and t-shirt, you could add a kimono over it. This would create a totally stylish look that would take a simple/regular outfit to one that will get you many compliments. I added this kimono from Target over my basic bodycon dress and created a lovely look that I can’t wait to wear to somebody’s cookout. Oh yea, and if you haven’t jumped on the “clear heels” boat, you should. Mainly, because you can wear them with almost anything!

Look 2: Try the Tie-Dye Trend

I never thought I would be wearing a tie-dye dress in my adult life. But, here I am. And guess what – I love it! It’s a fun trend to rock right now. And it’s casual enough for a summer cookout.

Look 3: Turn Your Dress into a Top

How fun is this look?! I love the idea of wearing a dress as a top with a pair of shorts or jeans. This combo works best with dresses that button up in the front like the one I’m wearing. As you can see, I unbottoned the bottom of the dress, and just let it flow in the breeze! What a great outfit for that summer barbecue or even date night (just throw on a pair of cute heels). It’s all about maximizing your current wardrobe.

I had so much fun creating these looks!!! Now, I just need to decide whose cookout I’m going to! I definitely won’t have to worry about what I’m wearing.
