3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT PUERTO RICO
Heyyyy darlings, HAPPY FRIDAYYYYYYY!!! Guest what??? It is time for a quick recap of my recent trip to Puerto Rico!! This recap is a little different than my normal recaps, so let’s dive in.
First thing first, meet my beautiful Puerto Rico crew
Puerto Rico was actually my very first beach trip in 2020. Of course we all been home in Quarantine, personally, I’ve traveled but I’ve mostly been to Florida. So I was determined to take at least ONE trip to a tropical island before the year ends. And my Friend Quan was going to Puerto Rico to celebrate his birthday so my cousin and I decided to join him and it was one of my FAVORITE trips to date.
And before I get into what we did while on the island, here’s 3 Reasons Why You Should Visit Puerto Rico
- THE FOOD
- IT’S SUPER AFFORDABLE
- YOU DON’T NEED A PASSPORT
Food: Omg, the food was EVERYTHING!! Quan is a chef so he definitely did his research on the top places to eat and he did not fail us. I had tons of rice, plantains, and listen, the mofongo at the Barrachina in Old San Juan was the BEST!!! And fun fact, Barachinna is the home of the Pina Colada. Which I had Pina Colada the WHOLE TIME I was in Puerto Rico. #DELICUOUS.
Cost: Puerto Rico was definitely one of the most affordable trips I’ve ever been on. The food was cheap, the flight there was fair, the hotel was cheap everything we did was super affordable. So if you have been wanted to travel but you don’t think you can afford it, start with Puerto Rico, you won’t need a lot of money. We were in San Juan.
Passport: Most people actually don’t know that they don’t need a passport to go to Puerto Rico, well you DON’T. ALL you need is an ID and a negative COVID TEST, lol. So don’t let not having a passport or this pandemic keep you from living, go to Puerto Rico and live you best life.
When in Puerto Rico
When in Purto Rico do what the Puerto Ricans do, which is EAT and go to the beach, lol. Well at least that’s what WE did, lol.
The Flight: Ok, let’s start from the very beginning. The flight to Puerto Rico was about 3 hours straight on Delta from Atlanta, Georgia. My cousin Tash was coming from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and she had 2 layovers on Spirit Airlines and her travel time was 9 hours.
The Hotel: We stayed at The Condado Plaza Hilton Plaza in San Juan. It was SUPER affordable, the view was AMAZING but of course due to COVID everything in the hotel was CLOSED. The spa, the fitness center was by appt only, all the restaurants, the bars, the night clubs in there, literally EVERYTHING. The only thing that was open was the pool and the private beach which we all enjoyed. I don’t think I’ll stay at that Hitlon again but Condado itself was the perfect location. It had EVERYTHING we needed.
Condado is an oceanfront, tree-lined, pedestrian-oriented community in Santurce. Condado is one of the forty subbarrios of Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
To Do: There’s sooooo much to do in Puerto Rico so of course we did not get to do EVERYTHING but we had the time of our lives. We had dinner at a different restaurant every night, the guys did a local tour, Tasha and I had lunch at the Vanderbilt Luxury Hotel which was STUNNING. We did a boat excursion to the beach, I learned how to swim, we went to the hotel pool, the private beach, we had a photoshoot and I had tons and tons of Pina Colada!!!!
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
- COVID Test: You MUST show proof of a NEGATIVE covid test no earlier than 72 hours before your trip or you will have to get tested there and Quarantine until your negative results return, which can take DAYS.
- Social Distance: They are very strict with wearing a mask. You are require to wear a mask EVERYWHERE. Inside and OUTSIDE.
- Curfew: As of 10.23.2020 they still had 10pm curfew and EVERYTHING is shutdown. So make sure you get anything you need by 9 pm because places stop seeing people and start closing down by 9 pm.
- Limited Operation: Business hours are extremely limited EVERYWHERE and most hotels have pause MAJORITY if not all of their services and AMENITIES.
- So pleaseeeeee plan with those restrictions in mind.
Overall Puerto Rico was one of the BEST trips I’ve been on and I will definitely be heading back SOON!!
I hope these are good enough reasons why you should visit puerto rico and I truly hope this was helpful and if it was you can find more travel content HERE and of course keep up with me on the gram as @iampriiincesss for my next trip and all of the action in real time.
