How to Organize Your Makeup Products
Are you the kind of woman with that junk drawer in the bathroom with all of your makeup products in it or have you invested in a vanity and have your makeup products neatly organized? There’s only so much space in our apartments or homes and girl, I used to have my makeup products everywhere or just thrown in a box or drawer in my bathroom. I realized, I had more makeup spills and it took me longer to find the product(s) I needed, doing things that way. So, I decided to spend some time and some of my hard-earned coins, on organizing my makeup products.
You don’t have to go into debt to organize your makeup. Here’s a perfect time to go thrifting, purchase bulk Tupperware from Amazon or visit your local Dollar Tree and organize your makeup products. If you are on a budget, I would highly suggest not spending more than $20-$30 on the following items:
Makeup Organizers
You can find makeup organizers online or as I mentioned above, thrift stores or the Dollar Tree. I have organizers for my mascara and lipsticks. I’m really telling my age, but remember those cute Kaboodles that we used to organize our first makeup products in or used them as jewelry boxes? Well they sell those at Walmart and Amazon of course for under $20. My favorite makeup organizers are the clear tier ones that have multiple compartments. You can easily purchase them for under $5 almost anywhere that beauty products are sold. I also save my Ipsy makeup bags to help me stay organized. You can for example, put your red lip hauls, nudes and other lipstick shades, separately in each bag.
Over-the-Door Rack
If you’re looking to completely remove everything off of your countertops or out of that junk drawer, purchase an over-the-door rack organizer. This organizer does exactly what it says, it hangs over your bathroom or bedroom door. I would suggest purchasing this item if you have a lot of makeup products, receive freebies from brands or if you plan to purchase more beauty products. Of course, the more versatile the organizer is, the more it will cost you. I found some pretty decent over-the-door racks for under $100 on Amazon and they’re easy to assemble.
Purchase Makeup Brush & Eyeliner Holders
This is where you can get creative. I’m a writer so I purchase decorative coffee mugs from the thrift store (as low as twenty-five cents each) to store my pens and pencils in and guess what else???? My makeup brushes! You can store them in pencil cases also. Anything that lays perfectly flat or that your makeup brushes can sit in and stand up straight will work perfectly. You can use these items to store your eyeliners in also. For eyeliners, you can organize them and store them by their shades or all together. It all depends on the space you have.
Use a bookshelf
Clear off a space on your bookshelf or purchase a new one to organize all of your makeup products. You can get creative as you like with decorating the space and by keeping all of your products in one central location. If you don’t have room on your bookshelf or money to purchase a new one, consider donating books to a shelter or thrift store to make room. After you’ve cleared a space, add everything to the shelves neatly and make the products easy to find.
The key to organizing anything is to make sure that you stay organized consistently. Remember what you were taught as a kid in kindergarten? When you’re done playing with something, put it back in the right place where you got it from. That rule applies with organizing your makeup products. You don’t have to spend tons of money either. You can find items around the house that you already have such as Tupperware or look in your kid’s room and use that pencil holder you bought them, but they never used.
