Living abroad presents itself with all sorts of rewards and challenges. Yes, you are immersing yourself in a new culture, a new way of life, and new experiences; but there are also things that you just can’t prepare for no matter how many articles you read. One of the greatest challenges that come with moving abroad and away from everything and everyone you know, is maintaining your faith and relationship with God. That is why I want to share 5 Things To Do To Maintain Your Faith While Living Abroad.

We can become so consumed with trying to meet new people to create our new social circle. We definitely try to see all of the touristy sites, because how can we live in a new country and not experience all those Insta worthy places. And if we’re working abroad, we have to make sure that we are staying on top of our workload, because we always have to stay two steps ahead and remind them why they hired us in the first place.

Now balancing all those things while living in the states is difficult enough, but living away from family and friends presents an additional layer.

When there is no one to turn to, all we have is God and sometimes it can be hard to make sure that we put as much time in our relationship with Him as we do everything else.

Unfortunately, for a lot of us, we put God on the back burner and only call on Him when we are at our wit’s end.

Here Are 5 Things:

Because I don’t want Him to be your last resort when you’re ready to throw in the towel, here are 5 Ways to Maintain Your Faith While Living Abroad:

  1. Complete devotionals using the YouVersion Bible App
  2. Write your prayers in a journal and read over them periodically to see what prayers God has answered for you and even how your prayers change as you stay longer in a new place
  3. Find a church online to watch their services (my personal favorites are Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr. of Voices of Faith and Steven Furtick of Elevation Church)
  4. Create a gospel playlist of all your favorite songs to have your own praise and worship session
  5. Connect with other Christians in your area or find a church home away from home

There you have it folks the 5 Things To Do To Maintain Your Faith While Living Abroad. I hope these help you. If you are living abroad how do you maintain your faith?
