Today I am celebrating this blog’s 10th year anniversary and it’s also my personal and professional reset!! Mannnn, I have come a long longgggg way. When I launched this blog on June 21, 2011, I had no idea what I was doing. I literally just wanted to share my cute looks and what I was up to. Well 10 years later this blog have changed my whole life. Of course it wasn’t an easy breezy walk in the park. It’s been 10 years of blood, sweat and tears and a whole lot fo sleepless nights. But it was ALL more than worth it.
Before I dive into the 10 ways to make your money work for you let’s talk about some of the things I’ve been able to accomplish since launching this blog 10 years ago. I said I started my blog in 2011 but honestly, I did not make any real money with my blog until late 2016, early 2017. Buttttt since then I have quit my job, more than TRIPLED my yearly salary from my full-time job. I launched a successful photography business, cleaned my credit from 420 to 720. I went on my DREAM VACATION, and I bought my very first HOUSE!!!! And oh in 2020 I decided it was time to transition from slaving for my money to making my money work for ME. So let’s get into it 😉
2020 was a tough year for all of us and my biggest takeaway from 2020 was that my income shouldn’t be tied to me showing up. Because it’s clear that the rug can be pulled from under me ANYTIME. So I spent most of 2020 transitioning my life, getting out of the working for money mindset. And while it’s been exactly a year since I decided to make every dollar I make work for ME I figured I’ll use this anniversary to officially transition the blog to a full Money Guide and I can officially call myself the MONEY GIRL, best known as your Wealthy Bestie!!!
As of right now, I’m making my money work for me in the Stock Market. I’ve invested over $60k in long-term and short-term stocks. Real Estate. I purchased my first house last year and this year I’m getting my first investment property. Life Insurance, I purchased my first policy a few months ago and the goal is to close the year with another one. And of course BUSINESSES. I currently have 3 businesses and the goal is to eventually invest in other small black-owned businesses.
While those 4 ways are how I’m personally making my money work for ME, there’s also plenty of other ways to make your money work for you. Let’s talk about them real quick.
10 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR MONEY WORK FOR YOU
- Invest in stocks. You can invest short-term and or long-term.
- Invest in stocks that pay dividends and create passive income for yourself as you build wealth.
- Invest in ETFs. Investing in ETFs is one the safest ways to invest in the stock market and not risk it all.
- Real Estate. You can build a Real Estate Portfolio of long-term and short-term rentals, flipping, wholesale etc.
- Invest in businesses. You can start your own businesses or invest in other businesses without doing the work
- Invest in ART. Art is a long-term investment. Start by researching the best artists out there.
- Invest in Gold. Gold is known for being a recession-proof investment. When the stock market is down the price of gold often goes up. So keep that in mind while deciding how to make your money work for you.
- Invest in life insurance. You can have as many life insurance policies as you want.
- Open an IRA account. Individual retirement account. You can open a Traditional IRA or a ROTH IRA. on BOTH.
- Trade Crypto & Penny Stocks: Learn the best way to trade Crypto and or penny stocks and you can become a day trader or swing trader and make even more money to invest.
